Several times actually … the most recent happened when we were on a holiday and took a boat ride on a fisherman’s boat to an island.
It was a beautiful day, we arrived at the island had a great lunch and rested. We strolled along the secluded private island. We were the only guest at that time so we were enjoying some quiet relaxation.
Afternoon came and it rained real hard and there were lots of strong wind. When the rain stopped we decided to head home before current gets too wild.
It was okay in the beginning but then we saw rain forming again from far. The wind was strong. Our boat was swinging left and right.
Nobody was wearing any life jacket. I knew more or less how to swim but there were were two women who didn’t – my mom and my MIL.
I thought that would be it. The boat will eventually turn over and we will all fall and I will panic…and then sharks will come and eat us!!! ( I don’t even know if there are sharks that area) It would have to be a closed coffin or would they even find our bodies?
We got wet and I was already turning pale and starting to get a headache. Well, I think everybody on that boat ( except for the boatmen who are used to this conditions) got the scare of their life.
When I saw land – Oh my goodness! You have no idea how happy I was. When I stepped out of that freaking boat – I was even happier. I lived another day.
So lesson learned here, never ride a boat without a life vest especially with two women who cannot swim.
And then last Sunday – yeah can you imagine on my wedding anniversary!
I was looking for something that we would be needing for our trip to the Philippines – a mosquito net.
I checked all over the house but did not find it. I called my mom to ask her if she might have seen it when she was here on vacation. She said it might be in one of the closets in the guest bedroom.
So I went up to the guest bedroom – it was very humid that day so I turned on the ceiling fan.
I didn’t wanna sweat like a pig.
I climbed on top of the bed but I cannot see well…. I thought to myself
” I must jump as high as I can to be able to look into the closet”
Somehow halfway my jump I stopped. The ceiling fan was on. I was almost beheaded.
Phwwwww! Cold sweats. I was literally inches from Death. He’s playing with me….
Life is just so precious. You’ll never know when it is your time so I’d say – Live your life to the fullest people!
What about you, have you ever had a near death experience?

Scary! I did almost die, but didn’t know it. I was having surgery at the time. My heart rate went sky high but they were able to get it back to normal pretty quickly, thank goodness.
Belated Happy Birthday!
I haven’t had this experience quite yet but according to my parents I almost died many times when I wast just an infant because I’m suffering from ashtma nd heart problems.
Oh Jade, sweetie =) thanks for sharing your experiences. I’ve never had any of these. You are right we should all love and live life to the fullest because every moment is a gift!
OMG! I’d be freaking out in that boat – SO glad everything turned out okay – and that you missed the fan!
Girl – it definitely gives one lots to think about…
BTW – Happy Belated Anniversary!!
Oh my gosh, I am so glad you are safe! I’ve been lucky, so far, and must remember to say a prayer of thanks tonight.
I am so blessed that I don’t have any near-death experiences and I’m keeping my fingers crossed not to experience such because I don’t know how I would cope up….I agree with you poh, we should enjoy life to the fullest and make each day counts…
I’ve had a few! Luckily it didn’t really happen. I’m also very glad your safe!
It does really make you realize how much you enjoy being alive.
Wow great story. I was not meant to be born so that is the first time I EVADED DEATH..BUT YES i THINK IT HAPPENED TO ME TWICE AFTER THAT.
Glad you made it through everything okay.
Also, you’ve been tagged!!
Wow, that is scary! I’m not a very good swimmer…I hate water.
Scary indeed Jade, its true that you need to live life to the fullest bec nobody knows what could happen or today is your last day here on earth.
I’m scared of water, I remember we went to Boracay and did the snorkeling.. I literally panicked after I was down in the water with the life jacket on me. I was just too scared to see underneath the water which is so vast and full of mystery.
Oh Jade that was scary. I have great fear on open waters too for some reason. And can’t imagine what i would do if get drown.
I felt like I was dying a couple of times from food poisoning. Luckily I went to the hospital and got an injection to stop vomiting.
Once, over twenty years ago in a car accident. Unfortunately, I’m reminded of that night on a daily basis from the injuries I received.
Needless to say, it was an extremely valuable, albeit painful, lesson.
That was close, Jade.
I had a couple of near deaths. It just give me the chills whenever I think of it. I was so close to death. *shivers*
whew! muntikan na talaga, Jade… I had one when I was half-naked on the 10th floor of the mall, inside the fitting room in Taiwan when a big earthquake shake the whole building and I could hear a lot of screaming from people running towards the elevator & escalator and the ceiling is cracking and it stopped after 30 seconds and I hurriedly grab my shirt when another earthquake again and this time it's more intensifying, whew! if it lasted for a minute, I could have died, hmmmmm… not a good place to die & naked, lol!
I guess I almost died when I was little. I was drowning in the baby pool when my mom realized that I was. Thank goodness she did or I wouldnt be typing this today!
I did nearly drown one time when I was wearing a Smurfs bathing suit. I had the genius idea to carry someone on my back and hit a slope or cliff or whatever you call it in the water when the bottom drops out from under you and you find yourself going oh shit. Of course she freaked out so I was going down. Oh the fun of that day where Sweet Dreams was playing on the radio.
I was thinking about changing the followers to stalkers myself. Maybe when I have more I’ll add it to the sidebar which gets quite crowded.
Glad you’re safe, Jade! I haven’t had any experience of that sort, but was always paranoid that I’d get into one.
Keep safe always!
@Tina – Oh my that was scary too, jeez. It does make you think.
oh my those experiences are terrible especially the fan one! makes you think doesent it.
i had a near death at school when i capsized in my canoe and my legs were trapped, i stopped struggling and saw a white light, then all of a sudden my head was out the water!
