Kaput Kaput Kaput !

My laptop is kaput !! Why does this have to happen to me? Why? Why? Whaaaaaaaaaaay?

I have so much to do. And the thing is that the list of the contest entries is only stored in my laptop. I hope J recovers my files, if not, please bear with me if it takes longer to announce the winners for my contest . The motherboard is dead and it would cost me a new price of a laptop to repair it.

So better buy a new one, right? I was thinking about getting a Mac but I don’t know it very well and I don’t want to get frustrated so I settled for a Ruby Red Dell laptop…actually I first wanted a pink one but I thought when I get older would I still like pink?

So anyway, about our vacation…

We arrived in Manila and went to the Renaissance Makati Hotel where we have free accommodation for one night because of the points J accumulate on his business trips to the US. The next day we took the last flight to Puerto Princesa for the first time. 15 minutes before we were supposed to land the pilot announced that we had to go back to Manila because there’s very little visibility due to the bad weather.

We went back and found out that no accommodation or any compensation will be provided since it was a weather problem and was not their fault. Great! No choice but to go back to Renaissance and get a room and pay it ourselves. Luckily it was not that expensive but still ….

Oh well better to be safe than be dead right? We took the first flight this time and arrived safely in Puerto. We met up with our architect and was pleased with the works he has presented us. How our house will look like is a secret for now ;)

The next day we visited one of our tree farms that’s nearby the Puerto Princesa city to check how things are going there. It looks great! This property is actually for sale because it’s very far from our other farms.

While chatting with our caretaker, we asked what do they use to iron their clothes and she showed me this.

It’s a iron that uses charcoal. Cool right? We might be getting one of these when we finally live in the plantation. We plan to use solar energy for the whole house but iron uses a lot of energy so this coal iron would probably be the best solution.

So while up there, I asked Ella to get us some grass – why you ask? Well, It’s not that grass you are thinking of…I meant Bermuda grass for the lawn. In the Philippines, they don’t have any seeds available for growing grass.

caretaker’s wife took a piece of grass that we are bringing to the other farm.

That’s a really neat iron. I have a really old cast iron one that was heated up on a wood stove.

Get yourself a laptop for Christmas. That’s what I did! I’m so happy to hear that things are going well with your new house and that you are using solar energy. Very smart move.

That looks like a beautiful place you visited! That’s interesting about the coal iron. I wonder how easy that would be to use–?

Oh my god I am so jealous. I want to live on a tropical plantation. Seriously that has been my dream since I was about 12. I would die for a Bali style house as well. Hope your vacation was wonderful =)

    hi,Jade.Love reading your post.
about pink laptop? i don’t know but if you like the color then, go for it.

Love that charcoal iron, i’ve been collecting old irons.I’m missing one like that.I’ve remembered when i was young my grand-ma like that iron than the electric one.she was using some coconut shell charcoal.

Anyway,I still envy you, having a place in palawan.
