Scorpion Nights

Guillermo , our head caretaker and the other caretakers decided that they will take turns and be our night watch meaning they will guard us while we sleep. We told them it was not necessary but they wanted to do it anyway.

On our first night in the farm… Elias one of our caretaker found a huge scorpion on the ground just after we left the kitchen. We were just there brushing our teeth. My Goodness! That could have been a big problem. We were in the middle of nowhere and to get bitten by a scorpion at 9 pm ?! I wouldn’t know what to do. We were very fortunate!

The next day, I asked them to show me the scorpion. They already took away the Metasoma or the tail part bearing the telson or the sting (venom injecting part) so I was brave enough to hold it.

After two nights we told them that REALLY, they do not need to stay up for us and besides they were kinda noisy. We couldn’t sleep well and do anything else for that matter (wink wink). They laughed and they got the message but they still won’t let us sleep unguarded, so they just stayed a bit farther from our cottage and chatted quietly. We have very protective people and we are lucky to have them with us.

Elias and Guillermo all geared up for their mission

One of the days we were there, a drunk man was tried to get inside our property asking to see the “Boss” ,there’s no way our people would let him in. The next day, we found out from one of our caretaker(nephew of the drunk man) that he had a fight with his wife so he wanted to entere the premises so that the American ( my husband , they always call all foreigners Americans) can shoot him and end his miseries. They think that we have a gun and we also heard that they think my husband is a military general or so.

It’s funny how people see other people huh?

I must say that that’s BIG alright. In my house we get quite a number of scorpions here and there but they are really tiny in comparison. AYE!

About the caretakers, you’re lucky having them. nice people attract nice one.

But i have a great laugh about the shooting thing.Goodness! I don’t see as a gun person nor being with someone with one.

Anyway, i got a tag for you. please do it.
