Is it the Asian Culture or the Genaration ?

When I was growing up I used to think that I was adopted. I really don’t recall at what age I started to think that. Maybe because I felt like I don’t get enough attention from my parents. There were literally no hugs and kisses when I was growing up. My parents were not really showy when it comes to emotions. If I new about paternity test at that time, I might have demanded it.

I know my parents loved me and all but they just don’t know how to show it. I cannot blame them for being that way, looking back my grandparents were also very reserved. They probably find it corny to show any feelings

And even now, if we are chatting and somebody cracks a joke – then we laugh like crazy , my grandma will remind us that it is not good to be “too happy” or something bad might happen.

Times have changed, we now give hugs and kisses to each other. I probably influenced that a bit.
I don’t know if it’s the Asian culture or is it the generation. Either way it’s going to change when I get my chance to be a parent. I will make sure that my child knows that I do love him or her.
We will laugh till our eyes tears up. I will make sure the we live every moment of our lives to the fullest.

I come from a family that is big on affection and showing how much we love each other. I try to show Brayden the same love every minute of the day. I’m glad you have decided to be super affectionate toward your future kids.

My dad was not the showy one but my mom lavishes us with hugs and kisses even upto now. So as a mom now, I do the same thing to my princess. We still do bear hugs and she still hold our hands and we say I love you very, very often. I know it might lose the meaning but when said sincerely, it will still hold it’s real value. I don’t know much about other families though. I grew up acknowledging one’s emotions so that makes me mushy..hahahaha.

Ditto. I knew my parents loved me.. they just weren’t big on showing it either. Maybe it also had to do with personality types… like how some people are big on hugging and are touchy-feely… and some people, are more reserved – lol

    Beautiful photo, by the way!
