My Grandma can sms! We taught her how to use the mobile phone about six years ago and I am proud to say she is texting with family members all the time.
I am worried that she might be feeling lonely because my mom just left and the other grand kids living with her are now working full time. So what I did last weekend, was teach her to chat online with Yahoo so that she could leave me or my mom a message anytime. Actually she already play games on the computer but chatting is something she still needs to learn.
I gave her instructions through the phone first and then we she got her yahoo mail with the help of my cousin. We then chatted at Yahoo Messenger. She even left me an offline message a little later.
My grandma is turning 75 this year. I want to give her a great gift but I just don’t know yet. Of course a gift card is the easiest gift but I want to give her something special.
I am choosing between the three five, will you help me decide ?
1) I go home to the Philippines and throw her a big birthday bash with family
2) A New Electrical sewing machine -which she have always been dreaming of having
4) Cash
5) A trip to Singapore

[...] you read my other blog – MommaWannabe.com too, you might have read about my almost 75 year old grandma learning how to chat with me online. She’s really pretty active for her age. She is a [...]
I know alot of people say giving cash is bad (a strange opinion if you ask me) but personally cash allows the person in question to buy what THEY want, not what the person THINKS they want – not that I am saying this about this case.
So I would either give her Cash or buy here the Sewing Machine.
oh please tell makoy I have subscribed your other blog.
I think give her sewing machine will be good. For her dream come true!
Hi Jade! Happy VD! Got a Love Meme for you. BTW, I preferred no. 2 to grant her dream.

Jade you’re so lucky to have grandma. I’ve never met my paternal grandma. Try to spend much time with her. Go to the Philippines if you can. It’s too uncomfortable for her at her age to make the journey to S’pore.

Hope to see you at both places!!:-)

She sounds fabulous! Well, I think you should give her what you think she wants the most. The best gift is always something that the recipient really wanted.
For some reason unknown to me, I would strongly recommend taking to trip to Singapore.
Nothing beats a day on the beach!

Why not a trip to Singapore and a sewing machine. I would choose those, if I were your Grandma. But the SG trip for me would be the 7th. I used to go to Singapore annually, all expense paid-for by my American business principals:-) But that was a long, long time ago.
Cheers to your Grandma and You (such a loving granddaughter)

Visit her! That’s the best gift you could give her.

My choice is give her a sewing machine which she really wants. A birthday bash is great but only lasts a day. A sewing machine keeps her mind and creative juices running (essential for elderly people), plus of course , everytime she sees her sewing machine, she will always be reminded of your love and devotion to her. And the satisfaction of creating something out from her ideas and from the sewing machine will give her more joy than a birthday bash.
@ Suzanne – I am happy to know that you liked my blog. I think after a year of blogging I am learning more and more. I don’t wanna turn away readers. I love my readers;)!
Thanks I think I most probably visit – I mean it’s better to celebrate life while we can right?
@ Sue – Yeah I am also leaning on the visit more and more. Thanks for the vote on that too;)

I’d like to say that I like your blog. You have a great way of adding the links in it and keeping your own blog about your things. So much better than all the blogs with useless texts in it. I really appreciate it.
As for your grandma. Go and visit her. It is the best thing that you can give. If you can afford to, then bring a sewing machine with you. But surely go and visit!
