Choosing baby names

When I am not blogging, I am daydreaming and preparing to become a momma. I often browse around babynamesforbabies.com to look for possible names for my future babies. It’s a bit overwhelming thinking about all these things. Of course all parents wants the  perfect first name for their baby, right? We have several names already in mind but I will keep it as a secret for now.

As some of you know, my hubby is Dutch so we did look at several Dutch baby names as well but after talking about it with my hubby, we decided to have a more international name for our kids like my name Jade for example.

What you should also consider when choosing a first name, is its effects on your baby’s last name. You may be setting him up for future disaster! Some tend to overlook how the combination of their baby’s first name and last name -if it will work together. You only get to do this once so better get it right from the beginning. Keep in mind, that it’s not about you! Your little boy or girl is going to have to live with this name for the rest of their life. If they change it on their 18th birthday, you probably did a bad job of giving him or her the name.

Say it Out Loud – to see if it sounds good. Some names do look good on paper but sound terrible on the tongue.

The truth is any name you choose can be made fun of, in one way or another, but these are just some ways to make sure you avoid the most obvious mistakes. Above all, be sure to say your baby’s whole name out loud so that you can evaluate its entire sound.

Good luck in finding that perfect name for your baby!
