My Journey to Motherhood by Kaye

Hello ladies and gentlemen, this is a schedule guestpost. As some of you know I am on bedrest due to my embryo transfer procedure, I am advised to take a bedrest so I won’t be able to blog much this coming weeks. I couldn’t leave you here hanging so I asked some of my good friends to guest post for me. If you want to do guest post too here at MommaWannabe, do let me know by filling in the contact form.

What is motherhood like ?

I don’t know how else to describe motherhood but the most wonderful experience that any woman can have in her lifetime.

When did you know you are ready for motherhood?

Honestly, even though I was pregnant already, I am still not sure if I am ready to be a mom. But when I found out I had Svetlana (my daughter), I knew deep in my heart that I am. I guess nobody is truly ready for such a great responsibility beforehand, but when the baby comes, you just know that you are, in fact, ready. Even though you’re scared.

What challenges did you face during the first years?

Being a work-at-home mom and Paulie (my hubby) being a stay-at-home dad, I am the breadwinner of the family. It is true that I get to spend more time with Svet compared to other working moms out there, but still, Paulie gets to be with her more often. Which is why Svet is closer to her dad than I am. It’s a challenge being able to work, keep the house and at the same time be a first-time mom to Svet. There was a lot about child-rearing that I didn’t know. I don’t always have my mom at my side to give advice on what and what not to do. Imagine how scared I am of not doing everything right, especially during the first few months of Svet’s life.

How many children do you have and do you want more?

I have one baby at the moment, Svetlana, who is one year and ten months old. I used to want only one child, but I know now that I want one more. A boy, perhaps? But just one more.

What do you like about being a mother/ parent?

I like that I am able to shape her into a person worthy of bringing into a society which seriously needs decent people to keep it sane. I also like that I am able to show gratitude to my mom by being a good mother to Svet.

Is there anything you dislike about being a mother/parent?

I dislike the mess that Svet creates everyday. LOL. But I LOVE the joy I see in her face when she plays and consequently makes that mess. So yes, it is really a small price I have to pay.

What advice would you give to anyone following in your footsteps?

Do not regret anything, especially having a child. A baby is a miracle, and no matter what the circumstances that brought about that child, he/she is still worthy of your unconditional love. There is nothing more precious in the world than having your own child/children to love. Life is too short to dwell on what ifs, so live each day with your child/children as if it were your last day on earth, and you will never, ever regret a day that you lived.

What are your plans for the future?

No grand plans. Just to own a house that Svet can live in when me and Paulie are gone, to have her finish her studies so she can fully support herself, and I guess to see Svet’s child/children the way my mom is seeing her grandchildren right now.
