My Motherhood Journey by Gene

This is a guest post by one of my marces, Gene. If you want to do guest post too here at MommaWannabe, do let me know by filling in the contact form.

Who are you?

I’m Genebei Faith . I’m Genegene to my parents, Ate Geb to my siblings, Gene to my friends but I’m called Jenny here in Thailand.

What is motherhood like ?

Motherhood is one of the noblest professions in the whole wide world. It doesn’t need a degree to excel but it takes a lot of courage, patience, love and understanding to stay on the course. This is one of the priceless jobs where your efforts couldn’t be paid by money . The pure love you get from this kind of profession is enough to make your day bright.

When did you know you are ready for motherhood?

The moment I decided to marry my boyfriend is the moment I started to know that I’m READY for motherhood!

What challenges did you face during the first years?

During the first year of motherhood? I’m uncomfortable with the weight I gained and the stretch marks left on my body…LOL! It’s challenging to get organized but I learned how to manage my time for my son, hubby, household chores and my work. I’m a “sleep lover” so it’s kind of a challenge to wake up early or to wake up in the middle of the night to change nappies or feed the baby. It’s a BIG challenge when your baby is not feeling well!

How many children do you have and do you want more?

Do you know that I love to have five- 2 girls and 3 boys?…LOL! It’s a lot, I know but I love children….BUT with our present condition and staying on a foreign land, I think we just settle with 2.

What do you like about being a mother/ parent?

I feel pretty, so much prettier as a mother…LOL! I become more mature in decision-making as I became a mother and I worked harder for my son.

Is there anything you dislike about being a mother/parent ?

It can’t be denied that sometimes you get tired of being a mother but never did I think that I dislike being a mother. You need to wake up earlier to prepare breakfast for your family even the bed is calling you like crazy…LOL! You need to bath, feed, read and play to your baby though sometimes you just feel like you wanted to be alone.

What advice would you give to anyone following in your footsteps?

footsteps of being a mother? No one is perfect in the field of motherhood so just do your best- just do what you think is good enough for your family. Never take motherhood for granted, it takes a lot of conscious effort, discipline and so much love to be a desirable mom . Don’t ever forget to make God as your partner and mentor in your road of motherhood. He’s always there for you. When worries strike and when time comes that you don’t know what to do, cry out to God. He will listen to you and he’ll move His hand to do the things which you can’t do.

What are your plans for the future?

I’m entrusting my plans to God for He’s the only one who can fulfill them. I told God that I desire to have our own house to stay with music room, library and billiards hall…LOL! It’s good enough for me to see my kid/kids achieved their dreams and to witness how they also build their own family. It’s my desire that my family will stay together , pray together and be a blessing to other families.
