Romantic ways to give flowers to that special somebody

Giving flowers to somebody who means the world to you can be extremely romantic – if you do it the right way.

Once you’ve bought flowers from a florist, it’s time to sit down and think carefully about how you intend to get them to the recipient.

Follow the example set by the Victorians

Did you know that people during the Victorian era were incredibly romantic when it came to giving flowers? A beautiful bouquet of freshly-cut flowers would be accompanied by a lovingly-crafted note, a tactic that is just as effectively centuries on. If you’ve gone to the trouble of buying some nice flowers, make the special somebody feel even more loved by telling that exactly how they make you feel.

Pick symbolic flowers

Different flowers are supposed to symbolise different meanings, so do a little research so you can show your thoughtful side. The colour of the flowers also has extra meaning. For example, white roses at  are believed to signify happy love, yellow with a red tip illustrate that you’re falling in love and single red one is another symbol of love.

Pen a special poem

Just as writing a note is romantic, so too is penning a poem. A word of warning, though, because there’s a fine line between romantic and cheesy when it comes to writing a poem, so have a look online for inspiration if you’re struggling. You can always tweak the words of an existing ode to give it a personal feel.

Try and make it a surprise

Be spontaneous when it comes to giving flowers. Remember, you don’t always need a special occasion or a specific reason to give gifts such as flowers. Also, less is more sometimes, so don’t always go for the easy option and buy the biggest bunch of flowers you can find.

With a bit of thought and planning, giving flowers can have the desired impact.
