How was your weekend guys? As you know I have been busy with packing the last couple of days and now busy with the unpacking. I have a gazillion things to do and I am so hating keys right now…

Oh no not her. She’s great.
I mean my house keys. That’s the problem I have right now…. Damn it! They always do that to me you know!
Who? Keys!
Keys and I just don’t get along very well. I know that they ( Evil Keys) will always be a part of our life but why don’t they just stick with me…follow me wherever I go!!!
I know I know …I should put my things in one place. I know that already but sometimes in the midst of things I tend to place my stuff somewhere and I do forget where it was.
I remember that we went out to eat dinner to a nearby mall, Parkway Parade. I don’t think I had it with me on the first time we went out.
Oh by the way, I don’t know if it’s only here in Singapore but there are so many sales going on in the shopping malls right now! I think it’s because lots of companies are in trouble right now. They have too many stocks so now they are offering almost everything half price, sometimes even more.
Hubby got a really good deal on a Sony home theater system…and I saw some really nice discount light fixtures but I will check that out when I am alone. I cannot shop well with hubby – he’s always like in a hurry.
Back to keys …I need to have a system. I am also getting tired of finding things all the time.
Hello! Welcome back to my blog :)
Hi guys, just a quick post. Moving
starts tomorrow….so it would be really really busy the coming days. I ‘ll try to visit you guys when I find the time. Please bear with me.
I am so tired with all the preparations – packing and the cleaning up and then later on unpacking and cleaning up.
Seriously, I don’t know how you guys do it – having 2,3, 4 or more blogs, kids and other hobbies like scrapping etc.
I really admire bloggers who have a gazillion blogs and still manage to have a life.
Anyway, I will be holding a contest for my birthday next month, if you are interested to sponsor, please hop over to my expat blog for the details.
And if you are talented with designing a logo, I need one for the contest. Please contact me at samcj7 {at} yahoo dot com…that can be your contribution to the contest and you’ll get backlinks too.
So that’s all for now. I wish you guys a wonderful weekend!!!

The last couple of weeks I have been lucky enough to witness several cultural events in Singapore, one of them is Thaipusam Event in Singapore.

What? You want more pictures
and details on this event? I have them at this post on my expat living blog.
weekend-snapshot
I have seriously so much to do. Remember I have told you that we are moving to a new place.
Well, it would be happening in about a month from now. We already started clearing each rooms, so far we’ve finished clearing and cleaning 3 of the 5 bedrooms. We have also already packed some of our clothes that we hardly use like the winter clothes ( Yeah I know – I am in Asia now, but can’t get rid of them yet because you’ll never know what will happen in the future)
Today I will be working on the packing the kitchen items but stress is getting into me.
I am trying to relax at this very moment. I am browsing through magazines and trying to envision our new place, very organized and clean. I want area rugs for the living room…maybe I will get one! I think we might get a few lamps too because the ones we have are already about to retire.
Oh well I probably need to get back to doing my tasks or I won’t be finished.

Planning family holidays is not difficult to do, but it does need to be planned carefully. First you need to decide what kind of holiday you want. Do you want to do a lot of sight seeing and learn about cultures or do you just want to relax at the beach and read a good book? I chose for the latter.
Life has been very stressful lately so I decided I want a short relaxing vacation. We are going away for the weekend to unwind and relax in a small island in Indonesia called Batam.
Anyway back to you, after you have decided what kind of holiday you want, the next step is to find the hotel that would provide you with your wants in this trip. There are lots of websites that offer the best prices on hotels, so make sure to check several of them and check for reviews as well of people who have stayed there before, look at the negative comments. We all know that hotels would always say that their hotel is fantastic but if there’s one guest there that didn’t like something from either their service or room, and actually said something about it then we know it’s true.
Now all that is left is packing the right clothes. Weather is very unpredictable so make sure you are always ready. Our trip is on Saturday and the weather is expected to be mostly cloudy but there is an always a slight chance of rain so I will be packing a thin sweater in case it gets a bit chilly.
I have beeen researching for this trip for the longest time – it always got postponed due to work or other family matters. It’s finally going to happen, Yehey!!
Now the only thing left to do is wait for the day and have a good time! What about you, have you planned your vacation for this year already?

This is my first time to join weekend snapshot.
My hubby came back this weekend
from his business trip and he brought a big surprise with him. An Olympus E – 520 DSLR cam. I was already thinking of getting a Nikon D-60 but this is much better according to reviews I read.
Of course I brought my new toy with me when we went to Chinatown last Saturday, and I was not disappointed. This is a great time to make pictures in Chinatown since the Lunar New year is fast approaching, there are a lot of decorations, stalls selling all kinds of stuff. This is my first time to use this camera so pictures I have are not super fabulous yet.…

Candies $1 per 100 grams and strange fruit I don’t know what the name is
Check another WS shots I took at pinayjade.com and read about the Year of the OX as well.

One of the great things of being an expat family is that you get the chance to see other countries and experience different cultures. We are always interested in learning about customs and food in use by other cultures.
I was delighted when I heard in November 2006 that J got an offer to relocate to Singapore. Not only it is closer to my fatherland – the Philippines but also because I knew that Singapore was a multicultural country. A great place to expand our knowledge of different cultures! And besides, I was already getting tired of gray skies in Holland and the high taxes. So it was a great time for a change.
We tried to see all the cultural events there was in the year we arrived in Singapore and one of those events that really impressed me was Deepavali.
Deepavali is an Indian celebration also know as Diwali, is the Festival of Lights.
It is symbolic of victory of good over evil, celebrated by most Hindus the world over. It highlights the victory of Lord Krishna, one of the deities of the Hindu pantheon, over the Demon King, Narakasura. It usually falls around late October or early November on the new moon day.
