Happy 9 months Sean!!

I cannot believe it! I know I often say that but Sean’s coming into my life  is just such an amazing experience for me. He’s been in this world as much time I have carried him in my body. I love him to bits!! I love the way he smiles, he eats and fake cough and everything  else he does.

Sean, this is where you lived for 9 months before you decided you want to move out.

Newsflash!
Sean got his first tooth!! It happened last September 3. We just noticed it that morning. It was so excruciating for him. It’s the first time in his life that he felt so much pain it seems like all hell broke loose in our home. I wish I could feel the pain instead of him. We gave him paracetamol and after a few hours he was good again. Crawling around the house like his searching for a treasure. He’s SO ACTIVE!

So since he has his first tooth we have to start with good habits like brushing his teeth. Finally we could try out this awesome toothbrush sent by the generous people of FIREFLY TOOTHBRUSH. Thanks so much, he love his toothbrush!

Sean, it's the other way around...

Yeah, that's better baby!

He got his measles injection today. He only cried for a minute and then it was over. He’s such a trooper!! He’s a bit cranky though because his 2nd tooth is also coming out … would it be hurting so much whenever babies get another tooth?

If you want to try FIREFLY toothbrushes too, I think they are available nationwide.

Hello! Welcome back to my blog :)

Freedom for Sean

It was difficult decision for me but when Sean turned 8 months, I gave him some freedom to roam around the floor. Why was it such a difficult decision you might wonder? Well I was afraid of the bacteria and germs that he will contract by crawling on the floor. Yes of course we clean our floors everyday, but I am sure there are still gazillion of germs and what- not that can be found on the floor. You can call me germophobic or OC but for me I just don’t want my baby to get ill.

But anyway, after some deliberation, I tried to overcome my fear of germs so that he would  have a bigger place to practice his crawling and exploring. To my surprise, he learned to crawl properly in a jiffy. He has now mastered the art of crawling. I need to be quick if I want to stop him from grabbing or licking something. Yes, that’s the consequence of the freedom given to him-  being able to reach and touch lots of different things.

And that’s why we also started with NO. It’s so funny because when I say No to him, he is  able to show that he doesn’t agree with me. He would move my hand away from the object I am preventing him to touch or by making a face that shows ” But I want to touch it!“  :P

What else has he been up to? Hmmm…he’s been screaming a lot, I don’t know if he thinks he’s talking or singing :) He also loves to laugh! He’s a very happy baby … I enjoy him so much.

He can now stand longer and longer and has started walking while holding on to the sofa :D (with one hand- yes he’s that confident) or the wall of his playpen. He fell a couple of times and cried but after awhile forgets about the incident. I’ve noticed that he’s becoming more careful after falling several times.

When he’s inside his playpen, he would try to climb out and sometimes would use whatever item that’s available to step on. Never a dull moment here in this house :D .

Does he sleep through the night already? NO ! When he was 7 months he would just play a bit around our bed, climb on top of us, pull our hair etc. Now when he wakes up at around 3 or 4 a.m. , he would cry hysterically till he can get us to get up and bring him out to the living room.

I wonder when he is gonna sleep through the night… (yawn) so I can get a night sleep of more than 4 hours again.

Happy 8 Months Sean!

Hey Baby!!

You are 8 months old already. Where did the time go? You can now sit, crawl and pull yourself up…you’re even trying to climb out of your playpen. It’s seldom that you sit still, when you are sitting on my lap and you see the laptop, for sure you will go and dive for it.

You are also walking like you are in the military :D – it’s so so cute!

You started with solids but we have to temporarily stop it because you have been throwing up a lot and I was very worried that you are not gaining weight because of this. We’ll try it again in a few weeks or so.

Oh and yeah you are so fascinated with paper – magazine, books and newspaper! Maybe you’re gonna be a writer someday :D

Lately you are throwing your head back a lot and fake coughing when you don’t like something. Getting you dressed is also a battle with you – you flip as hard as you can or grab things you see around you. I don’t know what you don’t like about getting dressed or changed.

A week ago you would put your head next to my head. I think that was your way of kissing but just a couple of days ago you gave me real kisses. Oh that’s just so amazing!!!

I am now busy organizing your first birthday party. We will be doing it in Manila so that our family and friends can finally meet you.

Belated Happy 7 months Sean!

Dear Sean,

It’s a week too late but better late than never right? You are now 7 months old and becoming more and more mobile. We cannot leave you alone for 1 second because you will surely dive or grab something and put it in your mouth.

Just a few days ago, you started saying Papapapapa and Mamamapa!! Oh you have no idea how delighted I was to hear those words.

You also like to make faces and show your tongue. I don’t know where you got that, probably from Simon – the guy in the educational program you watch. You looks so hilarious when you make this faces, I still need to get a chance to take a photo of that ! I still cannot believe that you are already 7 months- don;t grow up too fast baby.

I love you so so much!!

Momma

Unexpected Bloggy Break

It’s been like forever since I last posted here. It’s because we have not had much sleep lately with Sean waking up really early in the morning and having trouble in getting back to sleep.

It’s been like this for a month now.

And now we think he’s teething. He hardly eats and is quite moody. It’s very unusual of him to be like this. I hope this stage passes quickly as it’s so heartbreaking to see you in pain.

Here’s a picture of him when he’s not grumpy :P

My baby singing his lullaby

This is so funny! Hubby was trying to get Sean to sleep so he sang him his lullaby but instead of sleeping Sean decided to join his Papa singing. Watch it till the end for Sean’s solo part.

Childproofing Your Home

If you have a little tot at home who is very much eager to walk and explore his surrounding, it is time to start childproofing your home. Little kids love to climb chairs, check what is on top of the table or touch almost everything that is beyond reach. Accidents happen even at home and unintentional injury is one of the causes of children’s death all over the world. Prevention is better than cure; try to eliminate the possible causes of these injuries by child proofing your home.

The first stop will be the kitchen; you may want to seek ideas on home help with My Hammer on how to install safety latches on cabinets and drawers. This will keep children from getting hold of potentially poisonous household products. It is also important to keep the kitchen appliances and kitchenware away from the edge of counters and tables.

The next important area to child proof is the bathroom area. It is important to install toilet locks so that the toilet lid is kept closed. Remember that a child can drown even in one inch of water and they can fall into a toilet easily too. If water heater is installed in the bathroom there should be anti-scalding devices on showers and faucets head to prevent possible burns. Set the water heater thermostat at the correct temperature normally at 120 degrees. Water which is at 140 degrees can give a third degree burn to a child in a matter of three seconds.

The entire house should be child proof; so all unused electrical outlets should be covered with safety caps. It is better to install safety gates at the top and bottom of the stairs and also in doorways of the rooms. Do not place furniture near the windows because children may climb the windowsills. Check the looped cords of the blinds because it may cause strangulation to kids.

As much as we parents would want to be with our child 24/7; it is quite impossible to do because there are other responsibilities to do. Relying on baby sitter or nanny to take care of the child is not also 100% accident free. Childproofing the house is one way to keep the child safe. It is better to be safe than sorry.
